In these tragic days when Ukraine reflects Russian aggression, the only unifying idea for the Russian opposition can be anti-war. All other domestic and international problems pale in comparison to the bombing of Ukrainian cities and the heroic resistance of Ukrainians.
Under such circumstances, the opponents of the war should act as quickly and coherently as possible. It is necessary to unite the efforts of both the Russian opposition and the European and American political elites, as well as the Ukrainian and Belarusian diasporas, as quickly as possible. We are taking the first step in this direction.
This Saturday, an anti-war conference will be held in Vilnius, which will bring together prominent representatives of the Russian opposition, including the organizers of the Free Russia Forum, current Lithuanian politicians and representatives of the Ukrainian and Belarusian diasporas. Together, acting in solidarity, we will try to find solutions to the most dangerous problem of our time: Putin’s foreign military aggression.
Participants at the conference include Garry Kasparov, Evgenia Chirikova, Konstantin Eggert, Leonid Gozman, Lilia Shibanova, Ilya Ponomarev, Ivan Preobrazhensky, Dmitry Savvin and others. Most of the speakers will participate in the event in person, while others will join the discussion online. In addition to representatives of Russia and Belarus, Lithuanian politicians and public figures will take part in the event.
The main announced topics for discussion will be: assessment of the military situation, impact of the war on the regime in Russia, methods of the Free World to counteract Putin’s aggression, and possible practical steps of the Russian emigration to put pressure on Putin’s regime.
